In relation to all our properties and to ensure that the accommodation and location is suitable for visitors with a disability, it is recommended that you contact us with full details of your needs prior to booking.
Craigmore
Craigmore by virtue of its situation is unsuitable for severely physically disabled persons requiring constant use of a wheelchair. There is access by car to within 5 metres of the back door which is approached via 11 steps with a sturdy handrail. The rooms are spacious and there are spectacular views from two reception rooms and the master bedroom making it suitable for those less mobile – but who can manage some steps. There is a downstairs shower room with WC and hand basin. The master bedroom can be en-suite, and the second bathroom is approached down one step. The stairs are wide with a sturdy handrail.
Howdale
Howdale is a charming old property with low beamed ceilings which has been modernised but its age and character has been preserved. Howdale is unsuitable due to its layout and size for persons requiring indoor use of a wheelchair. There is access for loading and unloading a car to within a metre of the door. From the pavement, upon opening the door there is one step down into the kitchen/dining room, there are then two shallow steps down into the lounge. There is one step up into the downstairs bathroom, containing bath/shower/basin and WC. The stairs which have a twister have a sturdy handrail. There are two small steps from the small landing to the master bedroom. The en-suite is on the same level as the master bedroom. The garden which is to the side of the cottage is approached via the patio and up a small flight of stone steps.
The Porthole
The Porthole is an independent building built into the hillside, the roof being part of the patio and garden of the main house. On arrival at the main house there are 16 steps with a sturdy handrail down to the Porthole where we will carry your luggage. There are no steps in The Porthole itself. In front of The Porthole stands your private decking veranda. This leads to a decking staircase at the bottom of which is your private car parking space. It is therefore unsuitable for those who find steps difficult although if necessary and by prior arrangement access can be via the main house.
Melrose
Melrose is situated at the top of stone steps, which open out onto the terrace at the front of the property. Access to the rear garden is through a narrow tunnel at the side of the house and up wooden steps to the wide deck and a further flight of wooden steps to the top lawn. The layout inside the property is spacious, with a toilet on the ground floor.
